Success is a matter of Expectation!

You must first expect to succeed if you want to succeed.
When you expect good things to happen,
Strangely enough, they will happen.
Expectation energizes your goals and gives them momentum.
Your life will always respond to your outlook, so set your goals HIGH.
The dreams you choose to believe in will come to be.
You can't expect to succeed beyond your wildest expectations
unless you begin with some pretty wild expectations!

Thankfulness

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I am thankful for
-My relationship with God, without which I would be nothing

-My husband, children, mom, sister and all my friends-relationships are what life is all about--not money, or position

-The honor of living in the United States of America and the freedoms that have been bought for me that carry the ultimate price

- For VeMMA, as this product has given me my life back in many ways and for the awesome opportunity that VeMMA provides

Visions

"People who consider themselves victims of their circumstances will always remain victims unless they develop a greater vision for their lives."

Stedman Graham
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How many of us are trapped into small visions? I know myself, I can get all caught up in the here and now--living in the moment, distracted by the pothole in my path rather then looking ahead and seeing the glorious mountain ahead of me. One misses out on so many of life's best moments when they don't look beyond what is happening "right now". Our society is "all about me"....I don't believe everything revolves around me--- there are plans and purposes beyond my small existence that yes, I have a part in, but I am in the chorus, not the main character.....
Dream big, look ahead to see where you are going---living life without a big vision is like driving cross country without a road map--if you don't know where you are going, how will you get there??
Your Brain on Optimism
New research reveals the biological roots of positive thinking. How a rosy outlook can affect your health.
*Excerpts From Newsweek, click on title for link :)*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The disparity between positive and pessimistic minds is especially prominent in areas of the brain that have been linked to depression. "The same areas that malfunction in depression are very active when people think about positive events," says Tali Sharot, a post-doctorate fellow at University College London, who conducted the research at New York University.

In the study, Sharot had subjects think about emotional events, both positive and negative, like winning an award or ending a romantic relationship. They did this for past events and those that could plausibly occur in the future, while their brains were being scanned in a fMRI. Afterwards, subjects filled out a questionnaire that measured their level of optimism. What Sharot found was that when participants thought about positive future events, two regions of the brain became much more active than when they thought about negative events.

While we can't say for certain why some people respond more positively to life's events, it's increasingly clear that your mental outlook can have a big effect on your physical health. Optimism motivates individuals to take control of their lives, while depression has been found to have the opposite effect. It is often linked to a sense of hopelessness. "The problem with depression is that people are so pessimistic that they don't engage in actions that could make their lives better," says Elizabeth Phelps, one of the study authors and psychology professor at NYU.

The exact nature of the relationship between optimism and good health is still unclear. Martin Seligman, who studies optimism and positive thinking at the University of Pennsylvania says that it might be that, optimists, as opposed to pessimists, are more likely to take care of their health because they believe in the potential positive outcomes. Or, it could be that optimistic people are more likeable and build better social networks, which have been associated with longevity. Another possibility is that optimistic people may have had less trauma or difficulty in their lives (a high number of negative events in a lifetime correlates with bad health). "All of these are plausible," says Seligman.

So does this mean that self-help books that aim to boost your optimism, like "The Secret" or "The Power of Positive Thinking" will make you healthier? Not necessarily. But researchers like Seligman do believe that promoting positive thinking is a promising avenue of medical research. And whether or not you agree with his hopeful outlook may tell you something about your own brain.

I can only say for myself that as I study self help books/literature like Napoleon Hill and Bob Proctor, I have been more positive and it has impacted my life totally in all areas--relationships, financial etc--it's biggest impact is on how I deal with stress--as Cheryl Ables and Michelle Barnes say, "Play the spinmaster" which means to turn what can be negative into a positive. This change in outlook is fantastic and can really help turn around a negative situation--keeping it from growing into a HUGE emotional mess.....

Disease Prevention Through Simple Health Awareness is Essential

Excerpts from the article:

For years now, we have heard a lot about controlling disease through diet, exercise and food supplements, but not much is being said as far as disease prevention. What I'm saying here is that the best offense is a good defense. By understanding our own physiologies better, we can take great strides in simply not incurring serious illness in the first place. Our bodies were designed to function perfectly within a certain set of lifestyle and nutritional guidelines.

Symptoms of ill health are the consequence of nutritional deficiencies and chemical imbalances in the body. Many times symptoms are taken for granted as a natural sign of aging. When left unchecked, however, these same deficiencies can contribute to chronic disease such as arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, diabetes and arthritis. Finally, after many years of limping through life, we die. By making very simple, common sense lifestyle changes, our bodies can, and will, heal themselves.

The appearance of symptoms marks the clinical stage of a disease. Chronic fatigue is often a sign that something is wrong inside. It has been found that with nutritional supplementation and dietary improvements, you can work toward the remission of symptoms and the reversal of the disease process.

Scientists now recognize that even mild nutritional deficiencies and biochemical imbalances can create subtle symptoms of disease. Although there is a point of no return in tissue damage caused by severe long-term deficiencies, it is surprising to see how well the body responds to nutritional correction. As the chemical signs of deficiency are eased, it has been found that many symptoms being experienced are reduced or even eliminated.

Prevention of chemical depletion is the key to optimal health. Take cancer for instance. People don't die from cancer, per se, they die from the ravages to the immune system, which in turn leads to infections resulting from the severe depletion of vital nutrients. Ironically, the accepted cures for cancer in American medicine are often the biggest culprits, destroying not only cancerous cells, but surrounding healthy cells as well.

Think about it. If you start feeding your body the nutrition it needs, disease can be eliminated before any symptoms begin. If you're unsure that your diet or lifestyle is not what it should be, then you're right. Look for a quality liquid vitamin and mineral supplement and follow a few common sense guidelines, keeping on top of the latest nutritional news that's readily available.

Vitamin D3 and Cancer Risk

The article below is very interesting..for me, I am glad that VeMMA contains 1000 IU's of Vitamin D3. I would rather take a natural supplement that has the potential to decrease my risk for cancer then take a chance. Decide for yourself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From http://www2.creighton.edu/publicrelations/newscenter/news/2007/june2007/june82007/vitamind_cancer_nr060807/index.php
Creighton Study Shows Vitamin D Reduces Cancer Risk
Most Americans and others are not taking enough vitamin D, a fact that may put them at significant risk for developing cancer, according to a landmark study conducted by Creighton University School of Medicine. The four-year, randomized study followed 1,179 healthy, postmenopausal women from rural eastern Nebraska.* Participants taking calcium, as well as a quantity of vitamin D3 nearly three times the U.S. government’s Recommended Daily Amount (RDA) for middle-age adults, showed a dramatic 60 percent or greater reduction in cancer risk than women who did not get the vitamin.
“The findings are very exciting. They confirm what a number of vitamin D proponents have suspected for some time but that, until now, have not been substantiated through clinical trial,” said principal investigator Joan Lappe, Ph.D., R.N., Creighton professor of medicine and holder of the Criss/Beirne Endowed Chair in the School of Nursing. “Vitamin D is a critical tool in fighting cancer as well as many other diseases.”
Research participants were all 55 years and older and free of known cancers for at least 10 years prior to entering the Creighton study. Subjects were randomly assigned to take daily dosages of 1,400-1,500 mg supplemental calcium, 1,400-1,500 mg supplemental calcium plus 1,100 IU of vitamin D3, or placebos. National Institutes of Health funded the study.
Over the course of four years, women in the calcium/vitamin D3 group experienced a 60 percent decrease in their cancer risk than the group taking placebos.
On the premise that some women entered the study with undiagnosed cancers, researchers then eliminated the first-year results and looked at the last three years of the study. When they did that, the results became even more dramatic with the calcium/vitamin D3 group showing a startling 77 percent cancer-risk reduction
In the three-year analysis, there was no statistically significant difference in cancer incidence between participants taking placebos and those taking just calcium supplements.
Through the course of the study, 50 participants developed nonskin cancers, including breast, colon, lung and other cancers.
Lappe said further studies are needed to determine whether the Creighton research results apply to other populations, including men, women of all ages, and different ethnic groups. While the study was open to all ethnic groups, all participants were Caucasian, she noted.
There is a growing body of evidence that a higher intake of vitamin D may be helpful in the prevention and treatment of cancer, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, diabetes mellitus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases.
Humans make their own vitamin D3 when they are exposed to sunlight. In fact, only 10-15 minutes a day in a bright summer sun creates large amounts of the vitamin, Lappe said. However, people need to exercise caution since the sun’s ultraviolet B rays also can cause skin cancer; sunscreen blocks most vitamin D production.
In addition, the latitude at which you live and your ancestry also influence your body’s ability to convert sunlight into vitamin D. People with dark skin have more difficulty making the vitamin. Persons living at latitudes north of the 37th parallel – Omaha is near the 41st parallel – cannot get their vitamin D naturally during the winter months because of the sun’s angle.
Experts generally agree that the RDA** for vitamin D needs to be increased substantially, however there is debate about the amount. Supplements are available in two forms – vitamin D2 and vitamin D3. Creighton researchers recommend vitamin D3 , because it is more active and thus more effective in humans.
The rich have money -- and passion
Harrison Group head Jim Taylor recently persuaded more than 3,000 pentamillionaires to discuss their paths to success. Perhaps not surprisingly, none of them had a cushy union job down at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The vast majority -- 80% -- either started their own businesses or worked for small companies that saw explosive growth. Almost all of them made their fortunes in big lump sums after many years of effort.
Surprisingly, today's very rich say that money itself wasn't much of a motivator. Once you've got food in your belly and a big-screen TV, the mere prospect of more Benjamins isn't enough to get you leaping out of bed at 5 a.m. Rather, rich folks often make their fortunes after they make up their minds to solve a problem or do something better than it's been done before.
.............When people dream of getting rich, it's about more than nice clothes and fancy vacations. Being rich means freedom: to spend your time as you please, to pursue your real interests and to take chances without courting utter ruin. Paradoxically, the road to riches often means acting as if you already have that freedom.
Allergies and Symptoms- Diet and quality nutrition is an important factor
Allergies are your body’s immune systems reaction to substances in the environment. Your body reacts by releasing chemicals (histamines) that cause sneezing, rashes, eye irritation, etc.
Research is discovering that your diet and nutritional status is an important factor in allergic reactions. Malnutrition is another important factor related to allergies. In the United States, one does not envision the population as being malnourished per se however, studies have found that our soils are mineral poor; without a quality daily vitamin and mineral supplement, it is no longer possible to give our bodies what they need to maintain optimal health. We are now told to eat 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day---how many of you eat that many? I know I don’t and my kids especially won’t!
People that suffer from allergies have been found to be deficient in all body requirements for vitamins and minerals- in fact the only body requirement that they are NOT deficient in are carbohydrates. When these people provide their bodies with the vitamins and minerals they need, their symptoms often can disappear or be greatly minimized.
Vitamins and minerals keep our cells healthy-they provide a protection so that harmful elements can’t permeate the cell. When nutrition is lacking, these same cells are more open to all types of harmful substances. Damaged cells are also “leaky”, meaning that they can lose any valuable nutrients that they DO contain, creating an even more toxic environment.
Natural vitamin sources are better for your body then synthetic, man-made ones. In a perfect world, we could get all we need from the foods we eat. Our world, sadly, is imperfect. VeMMA is an all natural liquid Vitamin, Essential Mineral, Mangosteen, and Aloe product with the additional antioxidant benefit of decaffeinated green tea that fits the supplementation bill. There are 65 plant based major, trace and ultra-trace minerals which are broken down into a body-ready ionic state in every 2 oz serving of VeMMA. *
Sometimes supplementation is overlooked in favor of medications which have side effects that make us feel worse and mask symptoms rather than provide help the body heal itself. Today, make an investment in your HEALTH *
Declining Health Of College Students
"Data collected from over 800 University of New Hampshire undergraduates showed that more than two-thirds of women weren't meeting nutritional needs for iron, calcium or folate, 60% of men had high blood pressure and 8% of men had metabolic syndrome, a cluster of risk factors that predict future development of heart disease and diabetes. Experts say if the trend doesn't change, the group will show signs of chronic disease at earlier and earlier ages."
from Forbes.com In pictures 10 Health Trends you can't ignore
Also in the article:
"Foods that contain antioxidants--molecules thought to prevent some diseases and promote good health-- have been increasingly popular in recent years. Consumers are seeking out foods with the highest concentrations of the stuff, like the Brazilian acai berry and the mangosteen, a fruit common in Southeast Asian cuisine. These so-called "super fruits" are increasingly becoming mainstream, says Katz."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My suggestion?? Try Vemma!
Vemma has more antioxidant power than the other mangosteen products tested. This is what makes Vemma quite possibly the most powerful liquid antioxidant program available anywhere!

Health Insurance

TUESDAY, Aug. 28 (HealthDay News) retrieved September 3, 2007 from http://health.msn.com/healthnews/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100168613&GT1=10316

Excerpts: "Today's announcement on the increase in the number of uninsured Americans is a forceful reminder that action is desperately needed. Currently, 47 million Americans, including nearly nine million children, don't have health insurance coverage," AMA board member Dr. Joseph Heyman said in a prepared statement.

After reading this article on MSN this morning, it became even clearer to me that although health insurance policies are important, insuring our own HEALTH is equally as important. Taking a vitamin and mineral supplement is essential in this day and age. Dr. Linus Pauling, winner of two Nobel Prizes stated: “You can trace every sickness, every disease and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.”
The foods we eat now do not have the vitamin and mineral content of those we ate 20-30 years ago. Our bodies are exposed to free radicals from automobile exhaust, sun exposure, cigarette smoke (whether we smoke or not), alcohol, and other compounds found in the foods we eat, the air we breath and the water we drink. It is no wonder that America is getting sicker and sicker.

Health insurance is a necessity and the lack of is a huge social problem in this country. It is apparent to me that wellness insurance is equally as important. Taking good care of me today limits the diseases I may deal with tomorrow.

Drink your vitamins and minerals!

September 11th

On Monday, September 11th, 2007, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this sixth anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
